Documenting the American South
Documenting the American South (DocSouth) is a digital publishing initiative that provides Internet access to texts, images, and audio files related to Southern history, literature, and culture from the colonial period through the first decades of the 20th century. Currently DocSouth includes seven thematic collections of books, diaries, posters, artifacts, letters, oral history interviews, and songs.

eHistory
This "site for history fans, enthusiasts and students ... consists of over 130,000 pages of historical content; 5,300 timeline events; 800 battle outlines; 350 biographies; and thousands of images and maps." Also includes a glossary. A major emphasis of the site is United States military activities. Maintained by the Department of History, Ohio State University.

First Ladies of the United States of America

Internet Women's History Sourcebook
Part of the Internet History Sourcebooks created and maintained by Paul Halsall at Fordham, the Internet Women's History Sourcebook is a collection of public domain and copy-permitted historical texts presented for educational use. This sourcebook attempts to present the various ways of looking at the history of women within broadly defined historical periods and areas.

Librarians' Index to the Internet provides a well-organized point of access for reliable, trustworthy, librarian-selected Internet resources. Covers a broad range of subjects. Has both a topical directory arrangement and search capabilities.

Making of America
A digital library of primary sources in American social history from the antebellum period through reconstruction. The collection is particularly strong in the subject areas of education, psychology, American history, sociology, religion, and science and technology. The collection currently contains approximately 8,500 books and 50,000 journal articles with 19th century imprints.

Spartacus Educational
An online encyclopedia primarily covering the history of England and the United States. Also includes information about Russia, Germany, and France; timelines for World Wars I and II and the Spanish Civil War; and the weekly Teaching History Online newsletter. Searchable, and browsable by topic. Produced by Spartacus, a publishing company formed by a group of teachers.

This site features a searchable, full-text archive of articles from magazines published by the Primedia History Group. History topics include American, British, European, Vietnam, military, and the Wild West. Also features a today-in-history list of events and picture of the day with a related article.

This free site is organized around 52 document projects with over 1250 primary documents. Many of the resources previously located here have been moved to an expanded database version of this website, jointly published by the Center for the Historical Study of Women and Gender at SUNY Binghamton and Alexander Street Press. It includes thousands of pages of books, pamphlets, and proceedings -- in addition to the document projects found on the free website. (A free 30-day trial subscription to the database version of the website is available.)
