The first volume lists the most important artists from the 13th to the 20th centuries,, biography, bibliography, and a critical essay of the historical and critical aspects of his art. The second volume discusses some 500 works of art, in chronological order.

History of Art

Provides an extensive history of the visual arts in the Western world. Includes a subject index and timeline.

The Dictionary of Art
REF N 31 .D5 1996
34-volume attempt to provide "comprehensive coverage of the history of all the arts worldwide, from prehistory to the present." Includes an extensive subject and biographical index, as well as a separate geographic index to non-Western peoples.
