CHANCELLOR'S WELCOME

As Chancellor, it is my pleasure to welcome you to South Louisiana
Community College. Whether you are a recent high school graduate,
returning student, employee, parent, grandparent, or professional
looking to enhance job skills, there is a place for you here. At SLCC
we focus on supporting your life goals through excellence in education.
We know that the educational choices you make are important and will
affect your future in many ways. Our degree programs and the many
courses we offer provide numerous options. We encourage your thoughtful
exploration and review of these courses of study as you seek personal
relevance.
SLCC is a great place to learn. At SLCC you will find a top notch
administration team that is open, easily accessible, and receptive to
hearing your thoughts and ideas. You will also find a team of
compassionate, caring faculty and staff dedicated to your personal and
professional success. That success begins with excellent classroom
instruction that includes focused attention on the needs of not some but
every student. We recognize the importance of maintaining effective
class size and encourage individualized attention to support the
delivery of meaningful educational experiences appropriate to the
subject matter. We also understand that not everyone learns in the same
way, or at the same pace. As a result, SLCC offers a variety of options
and formats for our learners as well as a comprehensive array of student
services. Helping committed students become better learners is
everyone's pledge.
SLCC offers an engaging campus environment that continues to
attract increasing numbers of students semester after semester. This
ongoing growth pattern has resulted in the college being named among the
"Fastest Growing Two Year Colleges" of our size in the country for the
past two years. Students enjoy their educational experience with us and
repeatedly give SLCC high satisfaction ratings. While the reasons for
their satisfaction are many and varied, several themes are seen
repeatedly in their comments. Primary among them is their satisfaction
with our faculty, our interested and available counseling and support
staff, the clean and inviting appearance of our facilities, and a host
of other aspects of college life that add up to our being a "student
centered" college.
The time has never been better to focus on your future. We are proud to
currently be serving the educational needs of more than 4,000 students
and encourage you to let SLCC be a part of your plans. Give us a call
or, even better, come by and visit with us.
