Narrative:   
South Louisiana Community College (SLCC) has a sufficient number of qualified staff with appropriate education or experiences in library and tutorial services to accomplish the mission of the College.

Library
As of November 1, 2010, the Library has a total of 6.75 FTE.  Included in this total are four professional librarians, 1.25 FTE library para-professionals and 1.5 FTE student assistants.

All library professional staff members possess a master’s degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited library masters program.  The director possesses a second master’s degree in management information systems.  One of the para-professional staff members possesses a bachelor’s degree with a library science certification and sixteen years of library experience.  The para-professional staff member in Franklin possesses an associate’s degree.

Library professional staff participate in statewide professional development opportunities.  These opportunities include Louisiana Library Information Network Consortium (LALINC) system administrator meetings, directors’ meetings, and users’ meetings.  Other opportunities for professional development include involvement with LALINC committees, Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL)-Louisiana and the Louisiana Library Association.
