Library
SLCC Library staff provides two types of library and learning resource instruction:
(1) Orientation and (2) Instruction in use of the library is provided to all students enrolled
(2) in COLS 0001-College Success Seminar. Please refer to the supporting document “Orientation to the Library”. (1)

The second type, curriculum imbedded library instruction, is available by faculty request. This type of instruction is tailored to research objectives within a particular course.  Course topics include finding and using print and electronic resources, citation styles, and evaluation of Internet sources.  Other topics are included as appropriate to the course.

The Lafayette Library has a dedicated bibliographic instruction room.  This room contains nineteen student workstations, an instructor workstation and a multi-media podium with a document camera, DVD, VCR, and overhead LCD projector. The equipment in this room allows the librarian to demonstrate searching techniques while students simultaneously practice these techniques.

Bibliographic instruction sessions are provided to EMT-Paramedic students via compressed video. A library staff member conducts a bibliographic instruction session face-to-face at the Lafayette EMT-Paramedic location.  This session is viewed simultaneously by students at the six other EMT-Paramedic sites through compressed video.
