3.5.2 Institutional Credits for a Degree

At least 25 percent of the credit hours required for the degree are earned through instruction offered by the institution awarding the degree.  In the case of undergraduate degree programs offered through joint, cooperative, or consortia arrangements, the student earns 25 percent of the credits required for the degree through instruction offered by the participating institutions.

Narrative:   

According to the South Louisiana Community College (SLCC) Catalog, “Students must have earned at least 25% of their semester hours required for the degree through instruction offered at SLCC.  This translates into a minimum of 15-18 hours for the associate degree.  (Non-traditional credits awarded by SLCC may not be used to meet this requirement except for credit earned through credit by examination)”. The Registrar provides a Graduate Credit Report to the Dean of Instruction and Effectiveness. The list shows the credits earned by each graduate and the percentage of credits completed at SLCC. (Graduate Credit Report). This report is used to verify that students meet the requirements of earning at least 25% of their semester credit hours from SLCC.
