Narrative:
According to the Louisiana’s Community and Technical College System Board of Supervisors (LCTCS) Bylaws, LCTCS determines broad administrative and educational policies for the conduct of all Board, System, and institutional alternative financing. (1) It is completely separate from the college, has its own bylaws, and is governed by a Board of Directors separate and distinct from the College.
Auxiliary Services include the bookstore and vending. Chancellors are responsible for effectively executing all state laws, resolutions, policies, rules, and regulations adopted by LCTCS for the administration and operation of the system and governance of the specific colleges. South Louisiana Community College’s (SLCC) Chancellor, through the staff of SLCC and according to the organizational structure of the College, develops and implements SLCC policies. All auxiliary services are expected to adhere to SLCC policies and procedures.
SLCC developed an educational partnership with Acadian Ambulance Service, Inc. (Acadian) to address the critical and chronic shortage of Emergency Medical Technicians in the State of Louisiana. This partnership provides for the continuation of infrastructure to provide entry-level education to Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), Basic and Paramedic levels. SLCC maintains instructional control of this program. The process related to faculty and facilitators involves SLCC and Acadian. The faculty and facilitators are identified by Acadian, and reviewed and credentialed by SLCC’s Dean of Instruction and Effectiveness who assures they satisfy the regional and programmatic accrediting body standards.
One State of Louisiana corporation affiliated with the College is the SLCC BoFacilities Corporation. A Cooperative Endeavor Agreement (2) between the State of Louisiana Department of Administration and LCTCS was executed on June 21, 2002. The SLCC Facilities Corporation was formed to facilitate construction of the first Lafayette campus building. Its purpose is to promote, assist and benefit the mission of SLCC.
